I have seen blogging become quite popular in the last few years, though I never fully understood the appeal of it, that is, until I had a child and couldn't remember what I did the day before - I'd like to try blogging to document Jackson's life for my own poor little memory's sake! There are some hard days as a single mom but these days are so special to me and I don't want to forget a thing. Memories like tonight: Jackson crawling into my lap on the chair outside all sandy from the sand box, wet from his baby pool and sticky from his snow cone and I was able to get past the mess and sticky and just hold my little boy because he wanted to rock with his mommy, and there was no other place I'd rather have been on this warm summer's night. Okay on to Jackson...
What is Jackson up to these days?
-Well you are sleeping through the night! Even though you have been for three and a half months now, the awesomeness of it has not worn off on me! I mean, it did take a whole year for that to happen, but it could be worse and it was well worth the wait. You take one good nap a day ranging anywhere from one and half to three hours. You still sleep in mommy's bed, and I still don't regret it. There are some night it would be nice to turn on my lights to clean my room, fold laundry, etc. but those moments are not often. I'm thinking we will try to transition to your crib sometime soon(ish) but I am in no hurry, I know I'll miss having my buddy in here.
-Your eating habits...unfortunately for you, you got mommy's sweet tooth but I have not been too good about saying no to sugars, but I'm trying to work on that! You are a great eater otherwise, if I could just cut down your sugar intake (it's really not terrible, just could be better, ok lots better) you would be the healthiest little guy around. Your favorite food are: greek yogurt, edamame salad, pizza, Italian foods, salad (though I think it might be more the dressing), salmon, and pretty much any sweets you can get your hands on. You love sweet tea, water, and still drink a bottle of whole, organic milk before nap and bedtime.
-Your vocabulary. Every time you say a word, or laugh, it really is the sweetest sound in the world to me. I still remember the first time I heard a sounds from you, your cry when you were born - it was such a sweet, low, raspy cry and I don't think I'll ever forget it. Even though you have been saying "Momma" for months now (September 22, 2010 to be exact :) ) there's not a day that goes by I don't say to you, "Jackson say Momma!". It might be vain of me but I love hearing you say that and you recognizing me as your mother, it's the honor of my life to be your mom, Jackson. Anyways other words you say: Haa (for hot and you scrunch your eyebrows together and make a "hurt" looking face), Bea (for Bear), you say no but it's always "nononono" (hmm I think you might have heard that a time or two), Mom (for my mom, that's what you hear me calling her), Nan (for Anna), choo choo (when you hear the train). I will have to come back and add to this, there is lots more!
-Things you love: your pacis, your brown minky dot "Jackson" blanket, your laugh and learn stuffed dog, and books.
I think that is enough for now well I just finally got tired so, I will add more to this post. I have gone back and forth on blogging for a couple of months now and impulsively went for it tonight. I truly hope I can keep up with this, I think it would be so fun to look back on this one day with Jackson and I know I would look back myself all the time and be so proud of myself for keeping up with it. I plan on doing posts soon that include, how I got to be a single mom and want God has done and shown me through it, Jackson's birth story, and about my family. Nobody reads this so that is more or less just reminders for myself, haha, see I have a terrible memory! Oh and note to self: figure out how to do pictures!
Be back soon,
Liz/Mommy
